I so enjoyed "Blood Tea and Red String" I watched the movie first then again with the commentary. I like how you seemed to have left the feeling that people could interpret what they
wanted to in the story line and character's in a way. I did cry a bit for the little mouse that so loved the Doll.
I hope to still be around when you do a second and third one.
Kind Regards

nuremberg, germany - Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 14:30:06 (EDT)Me and my sister also watched your Film "Blood Tea and Red String" When i saw the movie i instantly thought of my childhood when i was scared of all the puppets in the theatre.
Anyways, we both had to cry at the end of the movie when the mice tore the woman´s body apart. Very touching and also disturbing.
I can´t believe it was made over a time of 13 years! How could you keep up with the story? And the message?
I just wanted to thank you. One of the most impressive movie i´ve ever seen.

I just want to Thank You VERY MUCH for the masterpiece of creation that you have done! I picked up your movie Blood Tea and Red String, at the Public Library, and had no idea.
Your toils have touched the very lonely and dark place that is my heart. You have brought brief happiness, and contentment to me with images and animation, so emotional, and clear, yet fufilling and complex.
We should all support you in your endeavor to fund your next movie, and I will be purchasing a copy.
Thanks kid!

wakefield, ma USA - Friday, October 31, 2008 at 02:21:13 (EDT)Dear Ms. Cegavske:
I am an eighth grade student at St. Pius X School in Toledo, Ohio. We are doing a year long research project on a topic of our choice. My topic is Stop-Motion animation films.
Since you are the creator of Blood, Tea and Red String and other stop action movies, I would like to ask if you have any information to spare on the subject. I would be interested in what led you to use Stop-Motion and what helpful suggestions you could offer. I have made some Stop-Motion movies with LEGO's but I'm sure your advice would make my movies much better. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,

Budapest, Hungary - Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 15:56:21 (EDT)I just watched Blood Tea and Red String yesterday at the Dryden in Rochester, NY and thought it was one of the most enchanting/lovely works of art I've ever had the pleasure of coming across. Kudos to you for sticking it out and finishing it over such a long period. I plan on ordering a copy from Amazon and having friends over to watch it when it arrives and will liberally lend it out. While I was in the theater I thought of several people who'd probably love it as well and have been telling people about it.
Additionally, here's a review from one of the film writers in the local weekly paper (I contribute to the music section, but plan on posting a review of my own on my site):
The film screened at the George Eastman House's Dryden Theater this past Saturday and Sunday and also made the cover of their September/October calendar brochure.
I'm pretty sure it was highlighted online, but they update the site according to what's playing and drop links once something isn't playing anymore:

Bloomington, IN USA - Sunday, February 04, 2007 at 15:10:35 (EST)I have adored the films of Svankmajer, Starewicz, the Brothers Quay (and so on) for years, but I've never been nearly as affected by a stop motion piece as I was by Blood Tea and Red String...or any of Christiane's work, for that matter. I love anything that combines delicate winsomeness and violent darkness as though they were drawn from the same vein (as I feel they often are,) but there's something beyond that...I can't really find the words for it. USA - Sunday, March 12, 2006 at 03:53:44 (EST)I was invited last-minute to see your film at the Castro Theatre, and I was thouroughly ecstatic for what I saw. That includes your costume! I was also surprised to see that my acquaintance Miles Boysen mastered the audio for it -- and I was unwittingly sitting one seat in front of him the whole time at the theater. Heep. I've recommended you to my filmmaker friend. Good luck with future design and moviemaking. ~> Diptera <diptera.res @@ gmail.moc>

San Francisco, Ca USA - Saturday, February 04, 2006 at 21:44:52 (EST)congratulations Christiane! I'd seen an excerpt of one of your films over 10 years ago in SF and always wondered what happened to ya. Wonderful to know you maintained your vision and completed this monumental film. Sadly I won't be able to make the SF screening but I'll find a way to see it one day.

USA - Monday, January 23, 2006 at 03:38:03 (EST)Your film looks fascinating - are you a fan of Starewicz? As a fellow puppet filmmaker (though I've yet to enter the realm of stop-motion!), I applaud your tenacity at finishing a 12-year project. Good luck with it! I recently saw your artwork displayed with Camille Rose Garcias at a gallery in Downtown Santa ana. My mother and I were very impressed and moved by your artwork. I don't know how it works but possibly in the near future I may wish to contact you regarding artwork for my bands Ep. Keep up the good work. Krisanna Marie <Electradscending A*T* aol D*O*T c*m>

Something quick ran down the hall, out of the corner of your eye... I thought I saw it, did you? Was it really there, that flutter in the shadows? That groan in your heart, that little voice in your ear right before you sleep? The longing and the remembrance and the that moment in inevitable time when you switch places with your little self. That is the beauty and the tiny sad song that plays when I see your creations. Thank you, dear.
